Ordinance of the Subconscious Treatment

Ordinance of the Subconscious Treatment, an artBnB apartment in Jiangnan, China, is an experiment on the psychological depth of total aesthetic experience that explores the theme of mental health and contemporary Chinese-ness. Conceived as a physical construct of mental space, the interior design evokes the impression of both hospital environment and historic Chinese locations by mutating the elements of a contemporary vernacular apartment. The furniture collection carries contemporary narrative content about mental health on a remix of iconic historic Chinese forms. Hand-embroidered patterns on silk portray stylized molecular structures of mental health-related chemicals.
