Jingtai Blue

The Workshop is a personal project focusing on artisans and the beauty of the handcraft process. More that the attachment to the final product itself this project start with the desire to show the artisanal gestures and the philosophy of the artisans. Zhao Meng is one of those “Neo Artisan” who decided to quite a management job in a listed company to follow a different path. Her story is inspiring on different levels. When she realized she couldn’t find any meaning in her life because she was doing a stressful job that was taking most of her time, she decided to focus on her passion for handcraft and started to teach the process of “Jingtai blue”. Jingtai blue is an intangible cultural heritage also known as cloisonné or copper wiry enamel. She is trying to transmit to a younger generation the pleasure of working with their hands but also preserving the Jingtai blue’s techniques.
