Rooted in Confucian philosophy, a prominent ideology within late imperial China that still reverberates in contemporary Chinese society, is the concept of filial piety—an essential virtue focused on securing heirs. This enduring ideology has placed significant stress on the LGBTQ community in China. Many find themselves compelled to marry unwitting partners of the opposite gender due to familial and societal pressures. Tragically, these coerced unions often culminate in heartbreak. This film strives to shed light on the struggles of individuals caught between societal expectations and their own authentic identities.
